Our office mandates masks to protect our patients and staff.
Our office has taken precautions to help keep our patients, visitors and staff safe.
*Masking
- All patients, visitors and staff are required to wear a mask which covers both the mouth and nose to decrease the risk of COVID-19 exposure.
- We can provide you with a mask if you do not have one.
- Acceptable masks include homemade, surgical, dust, or N95 masks.
- Masks should NOT contain an exhalation valve or vent as these permit unfiltered air to escape since they can infect others around you.
- Layering a cloth mask over a disposable surgical mask can block 92.5% of potentially infectious particles from escaping by creating a tighter fit.
*Why?
- Some of our patients have recently had Cataract or Ocular surgery. These patients are being seen in our office within a few days of their ocular surgery.
- Our Post-Op patients are susceptible to ocular infections from respiratory droplets.
- Our office, like most medical offices, take great caution when dealing with the immunocompromised patient and the elderly since they are highly susceptible to Covid 19.
- More than 500,000 Americans have died due to Covid.
IN SUMMARY, we ask all patients to WEAR A MASK and maintain a 6-foot distance from other patients while in our office.
- Masks Save Lives and slow the spread of the disease and even safeguard the vaccinated.
- Masks should be worn until we reach herd immunity.
- Masks are a sign of Respect and they will help the US to return to normal
"The most common mechanism for COVID-19 transmission is through respiratory droplets which are larger than aerosols and are more easily blocked with masks," says Dr. Callstrom of the Mayo Clinic.
A second part of the study measured aerosol particle counts from a source to a target from one foot to six feet apart, at one-foot intervals. Researchers found that overall, particle counts were reduced with increasing distance which supports current CDC guidance of maintaining physical separation of six feet from others.
